What's Included
Premeasured organic mullein flowers
Organic calendula flowers
Organic chamomile flowers
What You'll Need
¼ cup organic olive oil
2 cloves fresh organic garlic
Double boiler
Fine-mesh strainer and several layers of cheesecloth
Clean, completely dry glass container with a lid
How to Prepare
Prepare the garlic. Crush your garlic cloves and leave to sit for 10 minutes. Finely dice fresh garlic cloves.
Combine the ingredients. Place the garlic, all the dried flowers from your kit, and ¼ cup olive oil in the upper pan of a double boiler. Allow the mixture to rest undisturbed for 10 minutes.
Prepare the double boiler. Meanwhile, fill the lower pan with water and heat over medium heat until gently simmering.
Infuse the oil. Place the upper pan over the simmering water. Gently heat for 30–60 minutes, checking the water level periodically and replenishing as needed. Do not allow the oil to overheat.
Strain thoroughly. Remove from heat and carefully strain through a fine-mesh strainer lined with several layers of cheesecloth. Discard the used herbs and garlic.
Transfer and refrigerate. Pour the strained oil into your clean, dry glass container. Cap and label with the preparation date. Refrigerate immediately.
Storage & Important Precautions
Fresh garlic infused in oil can create conditions that allow Clostridium botulinum to grow. Gentle heating and straining do not eliminate this risk.
Keep refrigerated at 40°F or below and discard after no more than four days. Do not store at room temperature. This four-day limit is a general precaution for homemade garlic oils, not a validated shelf life for this particular herbal formulation.
Ear-use safety: This preparation has not been validated as safe for placement inside the ear. Do not put it into an ear with tubes, drainage, a suspected perforated eardrum, or signs of infection. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before using any homemade oil inside the ear, especially for children.
